This course develops modes of feminist listening to North American popular music. Drawing on intersectional analytical tools, it examines a wide repertory of music, including pop, rock, R&B, hip-hop, jazz, blues, country, and indie, and develops students’ abilities to hear and discuss music in relation to gender/sexuality/race/ethnicity/ability/power.
